Color Temperature to RGB
Convert a Kelvin color temperature to its approximate RGB/hex color.
Light bulbs and displays are rated by color temperature in Kelvin: a cozy 2700K incandescent glows warm orange, while 6500K daylight is crisp and blue-white. That temperature corresponds to an actual color — the hue a blackbody radiator emits when heated to that temperature — and translating it to RGB is useful for lighting design, photography white balance and screen calibration.
Slide through the Kelvin range (1000K to 12000K) and this tool shows the approximate RGB and hex color for that temperature, with a live preview. It's a great intuition-builder for why "warm" light is low-Kelvin and "cool" light is high-Kelvin — counterintuitively, the opposite of everyday temperature language.

Frequently asked questions
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming higher Kelvin means warmer light — it's the reverse.
- Expecting exact colorimetric precision from an approximation meant for visualization.
